The 2nd of January 2009 was a day
the people of Hastings Village in Sierra Leone will always remember. The
King Masco Long Distance Race.
This has been one of King masco’s dreams, to organise annual charitable
events for the community.
The Commandant of Hastings Police training school gave a tremendous
support by offering the Police training school ground to be used as a
focus point for this remarkable event.
Volunteers arrived nice and early to erect the canopy for distinguished
guest and Georges, spectators turned up in large numbers to this free
charitable event.
As a very strong religious community the event started with an opening
Muslim and Christian prayer this was followed with an address by the
king himself. (King Masco)
The competitors assembled and received words of advice from one of
Sierra Leone’s prominent sports official (Mr Lolleh) He also explained
the rules and wish them all good luck.
